Before you can record songs in New Horizons, you must take part from the music of KK Slider. The main way to do this is the Nook Shopping option of the NOOK STOP machine.

There you can access the Special Products menu. Every day, a different song from KK Slider will be available by 3200 bells. Like other items from Nook Shopping, the music will take a day to get home.

Once the music reaches your mailbox, it is time for fun to start. Go to any stereo of your home and press A to interact with it while you have a song in your pocket. This will open the music menu (see below) where you can change songs and record new tracks.

Move the cursor to the recording button and press A. This will allow you to record a song from your pocket. Once this is done, the song will disappear from your inventory and you can reproduce it in any stereo of your home. Keep in mind that you can not record duplicate songs.
