In mid-February, the first playoff duel between Borussia Dortmund and the Rangers rises in the Europa League. Bad news for the BVB: The Scottish record champion has drawn a prominent newcomer to the Deadline Day.

Eight times Borussia Dortmund has hitherto hit the Rangers from Glasgow in his European epocal history, for the first time in the second round of the cup of Cup winners 1966/1967. At that time, the BVB did not come out of a 0-0 in front of her domestic backdrop. Away in Glasgow, it sets a 1: 2 bankruptcy.

Most recently, both clubs in 1999/2000 dueled in the third round of the UEFA Cup – with the better end for the BVB, which after a 0: 2 offsetting the second leg with 3: 1 in penalty shooting won and passed on.

If the reigning DFB Cup winner as well as the Scottish champions meet again in a few weeks in the fight for the move to the second round of the Europa League, the BVB is clearly favored – especially since the responsible personnel named the title in the second most important European association competition as the goal for the second round.

No new additions to the BVB, Rangers beat

While the BVB was held back on the winter transfer market and not committed a single new player, the Rangers struck the Deadline Day prominent. They poured Aaron Ramsey back to the island after two and a half rather disappointing years from Juventus Turin.

The Welsh national player, especially from his long-standing guest performance at the FC Arsenal, initially joined the Rangers until the end of the season on a loan. After that, a program for the midfield actor should exist.

He had had several offer, explained Ramsey. The Rangers would have convinced him “with European football and the chance to play every two weeks ago 50,000 fans”. Trainer Giovanni van Bronckhorst praised the “experience and leadership” of new entry, which has 262 missions in the English Premier League and 58 Champions League games on the hump.

By the way, Ramsey is not the only prominent winter newcomer of the Rangers. Previously, Amad Diallo headed for a half-year the Schotten.

For the 19-year-old Ivorentic offensive jewel, his root club Manchester United has repeated 21.3 million euros in Atalanta Bergamo last summer.
